Editorial Policy

Standards for sourcing, attribution, corrections, independence and AI-assisted production.

This policy applies to guides, advisories, case notes and reference pages published by SocialEngineeringPrevention.com.

Source hierarchy

Primary records are preferred: government advisories, regulatory filings, court records, company incident notices, research papers and direct technical documentation. Reputable reporting may add context, but it should not replace an available primary record.

Facts, allegations and analysis

Confirmed facts should be attributed to the record that supports them. Allegations remain labeled as allegations. Explanations of an attack sequence are editorial analysis and should not imply certainty beyond the sources.

Dates and updates

Pages show publication or review context where relevant. A material update should preserve the meaning of the earlier record and state what changed.

Corrections

Specific corrections are reviewed against the strongest available source. Typographical fixes may be made without a note; factual changes should be reflected transparently on the affected page.

Commercial independence

The publication currently contains no sponsored recommendations, paid rankings or product placements. If that changes, commercial relationships must be disclosed on the relevant page and must not determine factual conclusions.

AI-assisted work

Automation may assist research organization, drafting, coding or illustration. It does not replace source checking. Generated media is used as an editorial visual style and must not be presented as documentary evidence of a real incident.

Safety boundary

Content explains defensive verification and recovery. It should not provide operational instructions that materially enable impersonation, credential theft or evasion.
